In His great sufferings at Gethsemane, Gabbatha, and Golgotha, Jesus paid the full price for sin. As the second Adam, He bore the full curse God pronounced upon the first Adam's sin. By doing so, He removed the entire curse from His children that Adam placed upon them. This is shown in the following chart:

SIN'S FIVE-FOLD CURSE FULLY PAID BY CHRIST
The Curse The Payment
1. Cursed ground

"Cursed is the ground for thy sake."

- Genesis 3:17b

Christ's crawling as a worm on the ground; His blood dripping upon the ground.

"I am a worm and no man"

- Psalm 22:6a

"And fell on His face and prayed."

- Matthew 26:39a

"Great drops of blood falling down to the ground.""

- Luke 22:44a

2. Living in sorrow

"In sorrow shalt thou eat of it all thy days of thy life."

- Genesis 3:17b

Christ's incomparable sorrow and suffering

"Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto My sorrow."

- Lamentations 1: 12a

3. Thorns

"Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee."

- Genesis 3:18a

Christ's being crowned with thorns

"And when they had plaited a crown of thorns, they put it upon His head, and a reed in His right hand: and they bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!"

- Matthew 27:29

4. Sweat

"In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread."

- Genesis 3:19a

Christ's sweat pressed out of His body as blood

"And being in an agony He prayed more earnestly: and His sweat was as it were great drops of blood failing down to the ground."

- Luke 22:44

5. Death

"For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."

- Genesis 3:19b

Christ's death by crucifixion

"Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost."

- Matthew 27:50

For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of One the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One shall many be made righteous.

- Romans 5: 17-19

Heaven is a place where there is no curse, sorrow, thorns, sweat, or death. How is it possible for sinners to justly enter heaven?
