The reigning power of sin and Satan has been conquered and broken, but not destroyed, in the life of a true believer on earth. Due to his remaining old nature and its indwelling corruption, Satan and sin remain active enemies. The old nature, however, shall die with the believer's death; it shall remain in the grave. Only the new, sinless nature of the child of God shall enter heaven. There sin and Satan shall not only be conquered, but totally destroyed.

Do you need Christ as King? Do you desire an almighty deliverer? Do you know, believe, and trust His Word as the powerful word of a king? The following story provides an example of believing and trusting -the power and truth of a king's word:

One afternoon, as Emperor Napoleon was inspecting his troops, the reins of his horse slipped from his hand and his horse galloped away. A common soldier -a private from his army -raced after the horse, managed to catch it, and returned the reins to the hand of the emperor.

    "Well done, Captain," Napoleon stated.

"Of what regiment, Sir?" the soldier instantly inquired.

Pleased with the immediate understanding, belief, and trust of the soldier in his word, Napoleon replied, "Of the guards."

Without uniform, stripes, sword, or any other outward sign of rank, the soldier promptly reported to the guards as a captain, stating, "The Emperor said so, therefore I am!"

"Where the word of a king is, there is power" (Ecclesiastes 8:4).

Why did this soldier's faith in the word of Napoleon honor his king? Why does faith in Christ's Word honor Him as King? Why does unbelief dishonor Him?

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

- Romans 7:22-25
